New members are always welcome.
Apart from a minimum age of 16 (sometimes waived), there are no restrictions on age, voice or gender.

Our annual Gilbert & Sullivan show is in October.    Rehearsals for it start in early May.   The whole company rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings and then twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays from about September.   Principals rehearse twice weekly throughout.   Rehearsals start at 7.30 - 7.45 pm and finish about 9.45 - 10 pm.

Our Spring Concerts feature mainly Gilbert & Sullivan and songs from shows.   Rehearsals and concerts run from about February to May.

dotActing members – singing and performing in the Show

If you want to be an acting member, you give a short audition to a small – and friendly! – committee after your first few rehearsals.   You choose the piece.

Once you have joined and paid your subscription as an acting member and been to at least half the Show rehearsals, you are eligible to audition for a principal part in that show if you wish.   Those auditions take place about 6 weeks after the Show rehearsals start.

dotNon-acting members

If you are not performing in the Show but wish to participate in the Society, you can join as a non-acting member.   There are many backstage and front of house jobs that need to be done.   Let us know if you have a special area of interest, or we will find you something.

dotSubscriptions

  • Acting members: £25.00 a year (£12.50 a year for students and people receiving State Benefit)
  • Non-acting members: £17.50 a year
